Art as a mode of enquiry

Art pushes boundaries - using art as a mode of enquiry
gives reason to the use of technology (or science) as an medium for expression.

The artscience involves:
The creation of a public interactive installation based around electric field detection,
where the body is the interface - evoking a sense of magic, mystery, danger and
combining elements of theatre, alchemy, science and mysticism.

The exploration of the mathematics, philosophy, general interpretation of ideas of:
time - what is it - what does it mean in science, art, to us;
space - perception, cartesian, polar, body, self, building, object, imagination;
energy - force, power, magical, physical, electrical, movement, ..

An exploration of The Fourth Dimension

The ideas themselves become forms of expression via programming- abstractions of process and mathematics.
(programming as sculpture)

Space, time and energy may be seen as process (change of state over time) acting on and in space as defined by visible/auditory clues, the rendition of 3D mathematical space as 2D projection within the computer dataspace.
X,Y,Z a point of light.

Algorithms become metaphors for the analogies of real and virtual - the simulation of a spring,
the visual appreciation of movement evokes the familiar real world.
2 dots of light dance in a spring like manner.

P1 (xyz) - P2 (xyz) = d
F = kd (spring, k == springiness)
F= ma
ma = kd
a=kd/m
dv/dt~ d (rate of change of velocity proportional to distance of points)

The simple spring model may be taken further by producing a mesh of springs to model a virtual material,
real time animation then evokes the movement of rubber, silk, jelly, water, simply by changing the dynamics of the equations..

Leading to the the modelling of Dynamic Form..
Where Space, Time and Energy are the basic and underlying mathematical/computational/philosophical/expressionistic
roots to the expression of dynamic form.

In turn there begins to form relationships to dynamic particle modelling, molecular behaviour,
chemystery, crystals, organic growth, decay.
The relationship of temperature and vibration to energy (as explored by Nikola Tesla).
the interfermentation of art and science..
Alchemic principles and divisions, water, fire, earth air,
Condensation, distillation, evaporation, dissolving, purifying
Solid, Liquid, Gas.
Positive, negative, attraction, repulsion, fields, gravity, momentum..

Sculpting the formulae to encourage the growth of evocative forms, tailoring the parameters and interactions
to suggest deep rooted principles at work on a virtual level in the fabric of 'etheric reality '..
